The basic premise of Rolfing structural integration is
that organization of the body in space is primarily impacted
by its continuous relationship with gravity. Physical trauma
and emotional stress tend to alter muscular and fascial
connective tissue through compensatory structural adaptations.
Over time these habitual adaptations become semi-permanent.
Rolfing systematically approaches the displacement of this
tissue and the resulting structural adaptations. This in
turn allows the body’s organization to move towards
a more neutral state with respect to gravity.

Rolfing is the most integrative approach
to treating chronic back pain that I have experienced.
